Rebecca contacted me last week to ask if I would participate in her campaign, SOCK IT TO ME, to collect socks for children in care in Uganda. Rebecca visited Africa recently and was touched by the poverty and despair of children in care.
This is part of Rebeccas email to me, you can follow the progress on her facebook.

The Facebook group (Sock It To Me) can be found at www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=172474961975&view=user#/group.php?gid=172474961975&ref=ts. The Facebook group will be kept updated with the running tally.

After visiting Africa I have realised a little goes a long way so I have started a campaign called SOCK IT TO ME. I have asked each person I know to send me one pair of baby socks which will be sent over to the home for the arrival of the first babies next year. They also forward the request to everyone they know and so on - the aim being to collect as many socks as possible.

I am hoping you will be able to support this campaign by sending a pair of socks or booties of any description. The address is Unit 10, 32 Ralph Street, Alexandria NSW 2015 Please address to Rebecca Neilson.

How adorable are these two little friends...
This is Metaya and Fletcher helping me with some photographs for the shop. This is Fletchers grandmothers bike which my Dad has recently had sandblasted and painted. It is about 70 years old and still in great condition, it works perfectly and withstands Fletchers ability to ride anything flat out and the odd crash. I actually think he's met his match and the bike is tougher than him! There's a lot to be said for things not made of plastic.

The beauty of being up every few hours in night is you get to spend more time on the internet searching for adorable fabric such as this one I found. I love the coloured birds, its really fresh and fun for the summer season. I have started to make dresses, bloomers and tops with it as I think it works well for all these pieces. Dresses will be available late November. Bloomers and tops coordinates available now.

Mathildas Markets is on in Brisbane on the 1st November at City Hall. Unfortunately I won't be attending this market but I was checking out the Mathildas website and it looks like there will be loads of great handmade. Check out the other Aussie dates here.

My fav magazine, Real Living, hit the stands today featuring a kids special of 100 ideas and best buys for kids. The mag usually features homes and homewares but decided to do a special kids feature and asked me last month for a pair of bloomers to include in their spread. How exciting and thanks to Steph over at Bondville for the tip off that I need to go buy a copy ASAP!

11 days and counting until 'little girl' arrives, now thats exciting and yes she has loads of bloomers made by Mum.
Bloomers featured in Real Living, you can buy them at Wild Things of Noosa.

New for summer... Jaffa bloomers and singlet top. I made the boys shorts in the blue and they are just too cute. I love these on Fletcher and circles happen to be his favourite thing to draw at the moment. Wild Things is having 30% off screen printed boys tshirts this week.

Liesa has lots more new bloomers in her shop at Handmade Heaven, so if you are in the Ipswich area visit the Old Flour Mill on Brisbane road for great handmade goodness!

We had our last little venture away before bubba arrives in four weeks. We decided to take Fletcher to a farm stay west of Brisbane due to his love of animals and chickens! We also wanted to show him where our food comes from, not the supermarket. The name of the farm stay is Bunyip Springs and I would recommend it to any families wanting the farm stay experience. The kids and big kids get chores to do every morning and afternoon and in between you get to relax in the peacefulness of the bush. The owners, Kathy and Reg, have restored two old cottages that families can stay in on the property. Thier hospitality is wonderful and they have so much patience with the kids, always happy to show them things and explain about the farm and its animals.

hello babe directory is a new idea for expecting mums and dads, in it you will find information and contacts to help with breast feeding and health issues and other businesses such as mine who sell the cutest kids clothing! To celebrate and promote the directory, hello babe have also put a collection of goodies together in this environmentally friendly cloth bag. The samples are fantastic, goodies are from NUK, HUGGIES, AVENT, AROMABABY and a copy of My Child Magazine. There is also Beyond Blue booklet plus other resources and an emergency phone list.
Directories can be found in clinics and chemists Australia Wide. Wild Things has a limited number of bags you can buy for $15 plus $6 postage. The value of the bag is over $40 and as a new mum for second time around in a few weeks I can say the bag is good value. I especially love all the samples as it gives you good idea of what you might like to buy for you and bub.

something to share this week...

MADE IT have published their first recipe zine! It has recipes writtten by Made It sellers and includes a range of goodies from drinks to muffins and main meals. Its really well presented on a shiny paper with clear and easy recipes to follow. The cost is $6, go to Made It.
Also at Made It, these great postcards, the artwork from Sweet William captures the great style of Made It.

Yesterday when I dropped off some clothing at a local church op shop I found this little beauty someone had left. It cost me $20, I was willing to pay much more for it! It has obviously been handmade by someone, its really strong and sturdy, and has had lots of use by some very lucky kids. So horsey is going to get a new rein and a coat of paint and hopefully will get lots of more rides over the next few years. Fletcher thinks its pretty cool, after being at the Brisbane Ekka this week and watching the horse jumping (sorry but I have very limited knowledge of horse things / sports??!!) With our next baby due in 7 weeks I'm sure there will lots of life left in horsey for this little one too.
